The 144th chapter of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority was introduced to the world on April 24, 1976. Named the Epsilon Omega chapter, its home rests on the campus of Morgan State University, located in Baltimore, Maryland.
Who would have known what an impact Theresa Bush, Karen Carter, Ursula
Chambers,Brenda Dawson, Ericka Faulk, Cheryl Hallum, Denise Jones, Verna Norman,
Alicinne Peebles, Hope Price and Sharon Stanley would have made on the Morgan
State University band when they first entered the band room doors on their first day of band? These are the 11 beautiful and talented women who are known as Epsilon Omega's "Founding Mothers".
Our Founding Mothers displayed countless expressions of "morale, spirit, enthusiasm atmosphere and attitude within the band" as they worked diligently, along with their band director, John Newson, to bring to us what we hold dear, our chapter of Epsilon Omega. The love of music, band and sisterhood that sparked our Founding Mothers interests to bring Tau Beta Sigma to Morgan State University quickly evolved into an overall love that has been extended to over 30 years of sisters.
The Epsilon Omega chapter has been functioning well from Day 1. As a result of this,we have accomplished many distinguished honors. Epsilon Omega has the Honor of being the Big Sister chapter to Bowie State University, Hampton University,
as well as Delaware State University . However nothing has taken the place of
receiving the "Chapter Leadership Award" at the 1997 National Convention in
Arizona. The Epsilon Omega chapter was a "Chapter Leadership Award Finalist" in 1997, 1999, and 2003. We also received the "Chapter Participation Award" in 1995, 2003, and 2007 National Conventions. In 1989, Cathy Miles received the Wava Banes Turner Award, and in 2005, she also received the "Outstanding Sponsor Award". In 2007 Tenisha Molock and Seychelle Dunn became Northeast District Officers at the District Convention in Pennsylvania.
In 2011, we recognized and celebrated our 35th year chapter anniversary As we recollect on the accomplishments of our chapter,we acknowledge that our chapter was developed as a result of a love and dream. With that, we continue to cherish it as we persevere to the utmost to allow Epsilon Omega to remain a dream come true.
